About the artist
Patricia Ariel is a Brazilian-American fine artist, musician, and writer currently based in the Pacific Northwest. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, her artistic journey began in childhood when she discovered that the worlds she invented were more interesting than reality itself, and she started giving shape to them through drawing and writing. Later on, she embraced the performing arts and fell in love with the stage, having acted, directed, written, and choreographed stage plays for about ten years. During the same period, she also pursued her studies in dance and made a few forays into the independent musical scene of Rio as a singer and songwriter. After relocating to the United States, she embarked on a professional career in the field of fine arts; her works have been collected and exhibited throughout the nation and Europe. Along with drawing and painting, she has been working on her musical project, Noveluas, in which she writes, sings, plays the guitar, and creates all electronic arrangements. She also studies classical singing, with a focus on early music. As an author, she recently published a dark fantasy novelette on her Substack, and is preparing her second fantasy novel, the first one to be published, with the temporary title of The Forgotten Ones.
Ariel draws inspiration from a variety of sources, from theater to paganism, from the arts of the late 19th and early 20th centuries to post-punk/goth culture. Her work is a reflection of her multidisciplinary background. With a passion for storytelling, she blends the realms of mythology, mysticism, and nature in her art, where realism and fantastical elements combine, resulting in pieces that are both haunting and thought-provoking.
