Responsibilities

Draw blood specimens from patients using established phlebotomy techniques, including pediatric and geriatric collections

Prepare and label specimens correctly to ensure proper processing and testing

Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signatures post-venipuncture to confirm specimen labeling accuracy

Maintain accurate records and documentation of specimen collection activities

Communicate effectively with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures

Perform specimen processing and handling following established safety and quality standards

Ensure a safe, clean, and professional environment in accordance with policies and procedures

Demonstrate leadership behaviors and a commitment to process excellence and confidentiality

Support multiple locations as necessary, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy settings

Required Skills

Proven ability to perform quality, error-free blood collection in a fast-paced setting

Excellent venipuncture skills with pediatric and geriatric patients

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Good communication skills to interact effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors

Keyboard and data entry proficiency

Additional Skills & Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required

Phlebotomy certification preferred; certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington

1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections

Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred

Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic training is a plus

Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable

Ability to travel between multiple locations with minimal notice
