Part-Time Legal Assistant (Bankruptcy Practice)Location: Roanoke, VA (Primarily Remote)Employment Type: Part-Time with Potential for Full-TimeAbout the Role We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our growing bankruptcy practice based in Roanoke, Virginia. This position is primarily work-from-home, offering flexibility while still maintaining a connection to the office. The selected candidate will be expected to visit the office several times per week to handle incoming and outgoing mail and complete certain in-person administrative tasks.This role is ideal for someone who is organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position as the practice expands.Key Responsibilities Answer incoming calls to schedule appointmentsCommunicate with clients to collect documents and provide updates on their casesMonitor deadlines and ensure timely filings with the bankruptcy courtMaintain and organize electronic files and documentsRetrieve, sort, and process mail from the office multiple times per weekDraft correspondence and routine legal documentsPerform general administrative tasks, including scheduling and data entryQualifications Prior experience as a legal assistant or in an administrative role preferredBankruptcy experience (Chapter 7 and/or Chapter 13) is a strong plus, but not requiredStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently in a remote environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsEmpathy for working with individuals in difficult situationsProficiency in Microsoft Office required (proficiency in case management systems such as Clio and Best Case a plus)Dependable transportation to visit the Roanoke office several times per weekHigh level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential informationWork Schedule Part-time (approximately 18-20 hours per week, 3-4 days per week to start)Some schedule flexibility within office hours, with regular weekly trips to the office requiredOpportunity for increased hours and transition to full-time based on business needsWhat We Offer Flexible, primarily remote work environmentAnnual leaveOpportunity for growth into a full-time roleSupportive and collaborative team atmosphereCompetitive hourly compensation based on experiencePotential eligibility for additional benefits upon full-time transition
