Nursing Unit Secretary - Operating Room

Location: 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, ME
Schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, consistent schedule, with one weekend rotation every three weekends
Remote: On-site only (no remote flexibility)
Position Summary
Maine Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Unit Secretary to support our Operating Room (OR) team. In this role, you will perform a variety of clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties , helping to ensure smooth daily operations in a fast-paced clinical environment. This position plays a vital role in supporting patient care and maintaining efficient communication within the unit.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary receptionist for the unit, greeting patients, families, and visitors
- Perform clerical and administrative duties to support nursing and clinical staff
- Facilitate communication within the unit and with other departments
- Assist with patient transport as needed
- Maintain organization and workflow in a busy OR setting
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
- License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
- Experience: One year of hospital or health care setting preferred.
