Job Description

Re:State is recruiting for a talented Researcher with experience in policy analysis and development to join its small and dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to and co-producing independent, challenging and authoritative research. Key responsibilities Researchers are responsible for helping design and deliver impactful, evidence-led policy reports, including writing shorter papers themselves. They are comfortable using different methodologies, applying critical thinking to policy problems, finding effective structures for written work, and shaping compelling narratives to bring the research to life. They are able to apply different evidence sources, understand system-wide implications and write in a clear, direct way. They challenge preconceptions and the status quo and are comfortable with disagreement. Our Researchers build strong relationships with stakeholders across public services, business, academia and politics, and actively look for opportunities to extend Re:State’s reach and influence. Researchers also support Re:State’s fundraising activities, including identifying opportunities for new partnerships, and work with our events team to deliver our best-in-class events programme. About you We are looking for an exceptional candidate with at least a year’s experience in a relevant sector. They must be able to demonstrate experience of research and policy development. It is essential that candidates can demonstrate: Knowledge and understanding of UK public policy and politics Good knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies and experience of applying different methods Excellent analytical skills, ideally including good data literacy, with the ability to rapidly process and synthesise information and identify innovative ideas for problem-solving A proven track record of undertaking research and translating it into clear written work An ability to effectively prioritise within a shifting workload and meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills The capacity to work with a high degree of autonomy when necessary Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build productive internal and external relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues Our culture We aim to create a fun, high-energy, high-productivity working environment in which team members go out of their way to support each other.
