Job Description

Visitation Monitor

North Homes Children and Family Services is seeking dedicated and compassionate Visitation Monitors to join our growing Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange (SVSE) Monitor Team in Bemidji, MN. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and families by helping create a safe, supportive, and structured environment during supervised visits and safe exchanges between children and non-custodial parents.

We are currently hiring for multiple appointment types, with opportunities available ranging from full-time to part-time and casual/as-needed positions, based on candidate availability and program needs. Starting pay: $20.00 per hour.

Job duties include:

  • Monitor visits and exchanges between the visiting parent(s) and the child(ren)
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the child(ren) at all times
  • Report any alleged or suspected child abuse and/or neglect in accordance with mandated reporting requirements
  • Serve as an unbiased third party between parents and provide accurate, objective, and factual documentation of visits
  • Intervene or end visits if program rules and expectations are not being followed
  • Complete required visit documentation and submit within expected timeframes
  • Conduct face-to-face or phone check-ins with families in their home, community, or school as scheduled
  • Communicate concerns or observations with the Visitation Coordinator and Program Supervisor
  • Maintain building security and cleanliness
  • Follow all program and agency policies and procedures
  • Complete required position- and agency-specific trainings
  • Attend and participate in consultation, program, and agency staff meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

To be employed as a SVSE Visitation Monitor, an individual must meet all the qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

  • At least 21 years old and have a valid driver's license
  • High School diploma or GED required; a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in human services or related field is preferred
  • Experience working with children and/or families, human services, child protection, or related systems is preferred
  • Ability to pass a DHS background study and meet applicable requirements and regulations
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays

Necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Strong oral and written communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Working knowledge of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, trauma, substance use disorders, and mental health
  • Ability to remain non-judgmental in regards to lifestyle, culture, race and/or economic status
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook Email
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods at a time and work in a variety of settings, including indoors and outdoors
